Graphite Carbon Vanes for Rotary & Vacuum Pumps
IUGIS Carbon manufactures carbon graphite vanes for rotary vane vacuum pumps, dry-running and wet-running vane pumps, meters and other rotating equipment where low friction, controlled wear and stable dimensional performance are required.
Standard, Extended & Wear-Optimized Vane Configurations
We offer four vane configurations to match specific pump operating conditions:
Standard Graphite Vane
Industry-standard geometry for general replacement and OEM applications. Suitable for most rotary vane pumps operating at speeds up to 1,500 RPM and temperatures ≤200°C.
Extended Vane
Increased radial length (customizable up to +15% over standard) to optimize displacement and volumetric efficiency in pumps with larger cylinder bores or reduced rotor diameter.
Wear-Optimized Vane
Enhancing the graphite grade (such as with antimony impregnation) combined with optimizing the tip profile reduces the friction coefficient (target µ ≤ 0.08), thereby extending the service life in dry operation or abrasive medium applications.
Special-Profile Vane
Non-standard profiles (e.g., stepped, contoured, or asymmetrical) manufactured per customer drawing or sample for OEM and specialized pump systems.
Consideration Factor: Compatibility Between The Blade And The Pump
A graphite vane cannot be evaluated independently from the pump. Several critical dimensions and operating parameters govern compatibility and long-term reliability.
Rotor Slot Fitment
The vane must maintain a sliding fit within the rotor slot.
Recommended clearance
0.02–0.05 mm per side for typical designs; excessive clearance reduces volumetric efficiency, while insufficient clearance causes thermal binding during temperature rise (>80°C).
Vane Thickness
Thickness must match rotor slot width to within ±0.01 mm. Mismatch leads to unstable vane motion, increased wear, or pump seizure.
Vane Length
Determines radial extension and contact trajectory against the cylinder wall.
Length tolerances
±0.05 mm for standard applications; tighter required for high-speed or high-pressure pumps.
Vane Width
Must align with rotor and chamber geometry. Width tolerance typically held to ±0.02 mm to ensure proper guidance and reduce side leakage.
Tip Profile
The vane tip geometry (radius, chamfer, or flat) directly influences friction coefficient and cylinder wall contact stress. Optimized profiles reduce wear and extend service life.
Vane Weight & Density
Density tolerance: ±0.02 g/cm³. Variation affects centrifugal force, vane acceleration, and sealing stability at operating speeds (>1,500 RPM).
Surface Finish
Surface roughness target: Ra ≤ 0.4 μm. Controlled finish reduces friction, minimizes surface damage, and improves oil film retention under boundary lubrication.
How to Identify the Correct Replacement Vane
|
Option |
What to Provide |
Why It Works |
|
Option 1 – Pump Model |
Pump Manufacturer + Pump Model + Vane Quantity |
Fastest route — we cross-reference our database for exact dimensions and configuration. |
|
Option 2 – Existing Vane |
Length, width, thickness (±0.01 mm), tip profile, vane count, photos, material grade (if known) |
Physical reference ensures accurate measurement even without pump model. |
|
Option 3 – Technical Drawing |
Full drawing with geometry, tolerances, and material specification |
Preferred for OEM/custom orders — defines exact requirements with no ambiguity. |

Quality Control for Graphite Pump Vanes
Dimensional consistency directly affects assembly compatibility and pump performance. Our QC process covers material verification, production, inspection, and shipment traceability.
Material Verification:Graphite grade and physical properties (density, strength, hardness) confirmed per specification.
Density Inspection:Bulk density checked against target ±0.02 g/cm³ per material grade.
Strength Testing:Bending and compressive strength verified per agreed specification to ensure mechanical integrity.
Dimensional Inspection
Length, width, thickness, profile, and critical tolerances measured to ±0.01 mm where specified.
Surface Inspection
Inspected for cracks, chips, machining defects, and visible surface anomalies.
Batch Consistency
Approved specifications maintained for OEM and recurring orders to ensure dimensional and material uniformity.
Final Quantity Check
Quantity, part identification, and packaging verified before shipment.
Stable Supply Capability for OEM & Replacement Orders
We support sample orders, regular replenishment, and long-term OEM supply of graphite carbon vanes. Production is organized around confirmed drawings, material specifications, and inspection requirements to ensure batch-to-batch consistency.
Flexible production:Monthly production capacity: 50,000 pieces minimum. Supports small batch replacement orders and large OEM batches.
Consistent specifications:All repetitive orders are produced according to approved drawings and material grades. Key dimensions have a tolerance of ±0.01 mm, and material performance is verified for each batch.
Reliable replenishment:Delivery time: Standard orders take 2-5 working days; custom/OEM projects take 10-20 days. Suitable for distributors and maintenance suppliers with continuous demand.
Production and quality control:Raw materials, processing, finished products, and shipments are managed through mature quality procedures (ISO 9001 certified). Each batch is traceable.
Graphite vanes are lightweight but brittle—packaging must prevent edge chipping, surface damage, impact, contamination, moisture, and part-number mixing.
★Packaging
- Small-batch:Protective separation between vanes to prevent contact damage.
- Bulk:Reinforced cartons with internal protection.
- Export:Plywood cases (plastic-lined for water/dust protection; steel-strip reinforced). Custom packaging available.
★Shipping
Express (samples/urgent), Air Freight, Sea Freight, or other logistics per order.
